About Us

About Us

Rainbow Seniors of Berkshire County was founded in 2016 by Ed Sedarbaum. A variety of social activities and educational programs quickly attracted participants from North, Central, and South County and has continued to do so. Programs are held in safe and secure places where everyone's privacy is respected. The COVID pandemic forced all activities online in 2020; now Rainbow Seniors offers a balance of online, hybrid, and in-person programs, always keeping safety in mind.

Rainbow Seniors has no application forms or dues. Show up at one of our programs that appeals to you: you will be warmly welcomed, and we hope you'll continue to attend.

Funding

We are supported in part by Title III of the Older Americans Act. Elder Services of Berkshire County administers our grant, and our fiscal agent is the Berkshire Stonewall Community Coalition.

Coordinator

Cass Santos-China has served as Coordinator for the Rainbow Seniors since September 2022. She brings a wealth of experience in events management, elder care, and community organizing. Cass also leads Berkshire Pride, the organization that puts on an ever-expanding Pride Fest. Beside all that, she is a loving mother and grandmother.

Steering Committee

With the exception of the Coordinator, Rainbow Seniors is an all-volunteer organization. Five active members comprise the Steering Committee, which works with Cass to plan programs and activities. Members of the Committee often organize and facilitate activities on their own. The Steering Committee also oversees communications, and finances in conjunction with Treasurer Ray Garnett.
